We will learn the basic history and stitches of Japanese Sashiko, a geometric embroidery/mending technique. We will start our practice by making a place mat. Then we will complete the 4-week workshop by making an eco-bag with your unique design, using kimono fabric.
Ayumi, from Osaka, studied architecture in Yokohama and worked in Tokyo, Japan. She loves Japanese design, nature, and food, and is passionate about cultural exchange and traditional craftsmanship.

Growing up in Osaka, Japan, Ayumi always enjoyed cooking. Since she started making rolled omelets at 7 years old, she has continued learning new techniques and developing new recipes.Ayumi has also taken calligraphy lessons in Japan for about eight years and is trained in architectural design. She enjoys sharing Japanese culture.
