UFM K-6 Tutoring Program
UFM K-6 Tutoring Program opens in the Spring of 2023. We will be meeting twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. This program serves elementary school youth (K-6 grade) who need help with their education (math and reading support). We are run by trained and knowledgeable volunteers and the program is coordinated by the Executive Director and the KSU Credit Coordinator for UFM and supported by two additional UFM staff who are also College of Education students. This tutoring program will offer both individual and team-building learning time. All students will initially be put on a waitlist while determining program eligibility and tutor to student ratio. The Purpose Statement: The UFM tutoring program aims to support diverse learners by providing educational experiences that are equitable and accessible, connecting parents with their students’ educational needs, fostering a sense of belonging, and mobilizing a volunteer network to provide support and guidance to all youth in their educational life.
Please note that students have the option of paying for the 12-weeks at the start of the program or paying weekly. Students on the free and reduced lunch program will be offered tutoring services on a sliding scale. Full scholarships are also available. Additionally, students that are ethnically, racially, and linguistically underrepresented and underserved will be given priority registration.
UFM would like to acknowledge the generous donation of tutoring resources from the longstanding Hand-to-Hand tutoring program at the Douglass Center. We appreciate your partnership and community support in providing accessible educational opportunities to young people.

El programa de tutoría de UFM K-6 abre en la primavera del 2023. Nos reuniremos dos veces por semana los Martes y Jueves después de clases de 4:30 a 6:00 p. m. Este programa atiende a jóvenes de la escuela primaria (grados K-6) que necesitan ayuda con su educación (apoyo en matemáticas y en lectura). Estamos dirigidos por voluntarios capacitados, conocedores y el programa está coordinado por la Directora Ejecutiva y la Coordinadora de Crédito de KSU para UFM. También cuenta con el apoyo de dos miembros adicionales del personal de UFM que también son estudiantes de la Facultad de Educación. Este programa de tutoría ofrecerá tiempo de aprendizaje individual y en equipo. Inicialmente, todos los estudiantes serán puestos en una lista de espera mientras se determina la elegibilidad del programa y la proporción de tutores por estudiantes.
