Description

The beautiful dance of the Argentine tango helps us to find sincere connections with others, ourselves, our body, and music. This class is offered in the form of traditional Argentine tango prarctica and will be moderated by members of the Flint Hills Argentine Tango group.

Every class starts with exercises that focus on balance, coordination, body posture, tango walking, leader and follower communication, navigation on the dance floor, and musicality. During the second part of the class, participants practice dancing to beautiful tango music. We also plan to talk about music, styles, and international traditions of Argentine tango.

No prior experience is required and no partner is necessary. Please wear smooth, clean-soled shoes that allow for easy pivoting on wood floors. We would be happy to advise on the types of shoe soles that would work best for dancing.

Members of the Flint Hills Argentine Tango group will rotate leading the workshops. Besides meeting regularly since the fall of 2017, these tango lovers from Manhattan frequently attend workshops, practicas, and milongas in other cities and invite guest teachers from other Argentine tango communities.
