When you ask someone what “soil” is, they’re likely going to tell you it’s dirt. Being literally underfoot at all times causes this critical part of a garden to be neglected or managed improperly. With some basic knowledge about the chemical composition of soil, how particle size impacts soil texture and how soil texture affects water and nutrient availability and storage capacity, you will be able to tailor your garden to your soil or amend your soil into something better, leading to a much more abundant garden next year.
