This studio course introduces the fundamentals of film photography, combining technical instruction with creative exploration. Students learn to operate analog cameras, control exposure, and develop black-and-white films. Emphasis is placed on darkroom printing, composition, and lighting. The course explores the aesthetic qualities of analog processes, including grain and tonal range. Through guided projects, students develop a personal visual style. By the end, students produce original prints demonstrating proficiency from capture to final print.

Justin Teel began exploring photography at a young age, and his passion for the arts grew to include painting and metalsmithing. This led him to study fine arts and ultimately specialize in photography at the Kansas City Art Institute.
