Join Flint Hills Wisdom Keepers board members and past attendees to learn what to expect at the Annual Gathering. The 2020 Gathering takes place at White Memorial Camp north of Council Grove, Kansas on April 24 - 26. Native American tribal Elders from across the United States share their traditions with participants. This informational meeting will cover: abrief history of the FHWK organization, its mission, and a list of Elders who have attended in the past; common topics discussed by Elders in their forums such as how Native cultures were preserved through their oral traditions and why Elders were so revered by their tribes; and a talking circle exercise in Concensus Decision Making based on a program led by Lakota Water Protectors from Standing Rock. This exercise is led by FHWK board members who attended the Lakota program. There will be lots of time for questions and answers. This class is sponsored by the Flint Hills Wisdom Keepers Foundation board, www.fhwisdomkeepers.org Contact persons are Diane Barker, phone/text: 785-477-9306; and Pat Embers, phone/text: 785-539-2819; or email both at fhwisdomkeepers@gmail.com.
