Introduction to Digital Photography: The Basics
Notes: (no class 04/16)
There are 4 openings remaining at this time.
Learn the basic concepts of photography and how to use your camera. To get the most out of this class, bring a digital camera that allows you to set the f-stop and shutter speed (DSLRs and most advanced compact cameras have a manual aperture priority/shutter priority mode that works for this).
Topics covered include how f-stop, shutter speed, and ISO work together to determine exposure; using white balance; the effect of in-camera processing settings on color; using your histogram; bracketing exposures; working with light; basic composition; and how to create the photograph you want.
There are four classroom meetings on Thursdays) and three optional field trips on Saturdays to practice what we cover in class. Exact times of the field trips will be discussed at the first class, but will be on Saturday evenings a few hours before sunset. You are responsible for transportation to the field trip location.
Classroom dates (Thursdays): 04/02, 04/09, 04/23, and 04/30 (no class 04/16)
Field trip dates (Saturdays - optional): 04/04, 04/11, and 04/25
